First climate records and meteorological operations managed through the Telecom Department.
Early observation notes and basic reporting supported national communications and aviation needs. This period laid the foundation for long-term climate records in Niue.
Niue Meteorology Service established at Hanan Airport.
Establishment at the airport improved aviation weather support and strengthened routine data collection for national forecasting.
Niue Meteorology became an operational service.
Transitioning to an operational service improved daily forecasting capability and strengthened communication of warnings to the public and stakeholders.
AWS stations installed in Liku and Vaipapahi.
Automated Weather Stations improved real-time monitoring and supported stronger forecasting, climate tracking, and early warning services across the island.
